I’m a twenty-something wife and mama who moved from a small California town to a big Texas city and back to California again.

I grew up in Southern California where I lived my entire life. I graduated from Grand Canyon University’s online program in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. I moved out of my parents home at the age of twenty-three to be closer to my job and my church.

For years I had hoped and prayed to be a wife and a mom and in 2015 the Lord faithfully allowed me to enter those roles. My husband Derek and I were married in a church overlooking the ocean on March 21, 2015 (and informally married in Austin, Texas on October 23, 2015 – it’s a long story.) I became pregnant in July and our daughter Adalyne Rose was born on March 22, 2016 (yep, only one day after our first anniversary).

I  worked in education for about nine and a half years and most recently have become an administrative assistant for our church in California which allows me to work from home (which I LOVE). In my free time I enjoy doing anything with my husband – he ALWAYS makes me laugh – if you’ve met him, then you already know this. My favorite hobbies are reading, writing, graphic design, photography, enjoying a good cup of cold brew coffee (NOT Starsucks), catching up on Fixer Upper, and did I mention reading? (Yes, I’m a total nerd at heart!)

Most importantly, I love Jesus more than life itself and am so thankful for how He not only came to earth to live as a human to be the perfect sacrifice for my sins, but died for me so that I might live with Him in eternity and have a right relationship with God.

Psalm 16:5-6 says,

“The LORD is my chosen portion and my cup; you hold my lot. The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places, indeed I have a beautiful inheritance.”

It is this beautiful inheritance (Christ Himself) that has inspired me to write about this life He has given me.

Following Jesus has been the hardest and most blessed thing I have ever done.

I have forsaken home, family, friends, jobs and a dear, sweet church family and even a car to follow Jesus and I don’t regret any of it because I know that He is coming soon to take me home and I know that, “. . . the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us,” Romans 8:18.

In all that I’ve been through in the past few years, I’ve longed to have some sense of normalcy and no longer feel uprooted but I’m thankful because these trials have reminded that, “. . . here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come,” Hebrews 13:4.

This blog is my living journal of sorts where I share about how Christ is at work in me, and how living for Him has impacted various areas of our lives (home, health – both physical and spiritual, finances, etc.). My aim is that women would see a bit of what it looks like to live out Biblical womanhood and would, most of all, be encouraged to know who Jesus is according to the Bible (you will find this greatly emphasized in my book reviews – I’m very anti-fluff!).

I pray that as you read about my life and how Christ is working in me and my family, you will be encouraged to become more like Christ or come to know Him.

Thanks for stopping by!

In Christ,

Lauren
