Knowable Word is a helpful primer for studying the Bible. It begins by introducing readers to the OIA (observation, interpretation, application) method of Bible study. I was familiar with this method as it’s been frequently used with Bible studies I’ve done. It was neat to learn a bit more about the method and its origins. The book is short but packed full of helpful tips for getting to know and understand your Bible better.
Each chapter contains Your Turn sections that include questions for readers that prompt them to put what they’ve learned into practice. One of my favorite aspects of this book is that while it focuses on head knowledge, the author encourages readers to know the Bible better so they can love Jesus more, not just increase head knowledge. For this reason, I’m eagerly anticipating reading the companion book Sowable Word. Knowable Word is great for individual or group study and is a very accessible read for anyone wanting to become a better Bible student.
