God’s Big Promises: The Story of Christmas is a small book containing seven stories about the birth of Jesus. The stories are from God’s Big Promises: Bible Storybook. The book begins by helping children understand that God’s promises throughout Scripture point to Jesus coming to fulfill them.
One of the intro pages tells children, “God keeps his promise. . . About a king, To rescue, About his people, That he will bring joy – happiness.” Each of these four points is accompanied by clues that children can look for as they read to help them identify when God kept a promise.
I love the inclusion of the clues and the idea of looking for them because it trains children to consider how all of Scripture points to Jesus. This is a lovely, biblically rich resource that is fun to read in December, and it would be especially fun to use with small children the week leading up to Christmas.
