I received Abigail and the Summer Situation, compliments of The Good Book Company, in exchange for my honest review.
Abigail and the Summer Situation is the latest installment in the Abigail series by Bethany McIlrath. This sweet story is about Abigail learning to let her light shine (Matthew 5:16). As she attends a Backyard Bible Club, Abigail learns about friendship and Jesus. Her mom helps her navigate how she can let her light shine when one friend’s mom doesn’t want her talking about Jesus. This book is full of Scripture, and although the intended audience is middle grade readers, it blessed me.
One of the things I appreciate most about Abigail and the Summer Situation is how Abigail’s mom encourages her to hold her convictions with humility and charity. I love how the story results in Abigail having the opportunity to share with her friend and her friend’s mom about Jesus because her light shone brightly. This book is a great resource for teaching children how to live for Jesus and trust God as the one who changes hearts.
