About Lauren
Hi, friends! I’m Lauren, a wife, mom, and, most importantly, a follower of Jesus. I was born and raised in Southern California and moved to Austin, TX, in 2015, due to my husband, Derek’s, career. We’ve been married for ten years (you can read our story here) and have three fun and crazy kids! I spend my days homeschooling my kids, serving in the youth ministry at our church, and reading as many books as I can get my hands on. In 2011, I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology degree from Grand Canyon University, and I desire to attend seminary one day.
This blog began as a way to share life updates with family and friends once we moved. I joined a Christian book review program in 2010 called Blogging for Books, and the rest is history! I blogged inconsistently for a time but began posting regularly as I received more review copies of books. I also enjoy writing about theology and examining various elements of Christian culture to explore whether or not they are biblical. I also hope to encourage Christians with the freedom they have in Christ from legalism and for holiness. I firmly believe that in Jesus, I, indeed, have a beautiful inheritance (Psalm 16:6). Because of Him, the lines have fallen for me in pleasant places, and this blog is one way to document the riches of His kindness.
Outside of blogging, my hobbies include reading and all things books, writing, photography, baking, puzzles, spending time with my husband, Derek, who is my best friend, taking family adventures with our kids, and spending time with our church family.
