The Secret to Confidence is the debut title by author and biblical counselor Rebekah Hannah. I desired to read this book as Christian confidence is something I’ve wanted to grow in, but felt awkward about. It seems antithetical for Christians to desire confidence, but I’ve learned that it truly is growing in humility that’s deeply rooted in who Christ is and what He’s done. In this book, Hannah faithfully reminds readers of those truths again and again.
In the The Secret to Confidence, Hannah discusses how the world encourages us to boast in ourselves, and reminds readers that our best and truest boast is Christ. She wisely handles Scripture to help readers behold the beauty of Jesus and helps them know that He is worth placing our confidence in. This book was very helpful for me as it reminded me of who I am in Christ, and also gently convicted me of ways I was taking too much stock in myself. Each chapter concludes with discussion questions making this perfect for a book study or individual reading. My favorite chapter was The Emotional Jesus. In this chapter, Hannah helps readers draw comfort in the reality that we have a Savior who sympathizes with us in our weaknesses. Overall, this book was very helpful and I highly recommend it.
