All About Bible Animals

All About Bible Animals is the second book in the All About . . . series by The Good Book Company. This book is a really fun read aloud for families. It teaches readers about many of the animals mentioned in the Bible along with truths from the Bible. One of the animals I enjoyed reading about was deer on page 18.

Psalm 41:1-2 says, “As a deer pants for flowing streams, so pants my soul for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God?” And the book informs readers, “That’s an unusual thing to say, partly because most of the water that deer need comes from the plants they eat. They still need some water to drink, but if a deer was really thirsty, it would either be because it had just been chased by a predator or because it didn’t have enough fresh, juicy shrubs to eat.”

All About Bible Animals

Prior to reading All About Bible Animals, I didn’t know this about deer. It was neat to learn this and consider why the Sons of Korah, who authored Psalm 42, may have chosen to compare themselves to deer. In addition to helping readers better understand Bible animals, the book does a wonderful job of acknowledging God’s power and imagination in creation.

The book can be read in sections or as a cohesive book and although it’s a children’s book, I believe adults will enjoy it too! My family loves All About Bible Animals and we look forward to reading more in this series!

I received All About Bible Animals compliments of The Good Book Company in exchange for my honest review.
