The Lord’s Prayer for All God’s Children is the latest book in the FatCat series by Lexham Press. In this title, children learn the words of The Lord’s Prayer and how it serves as a model for how we ought to pray. Growing up, I didn’t understand that The Lord’s Prayer serves as a model for prayer. I thought that the words were necessary for informing my heart’s posture of how to approach God in prayer. It was in adulthood that I learned that the prayer is actually a model and not necessarily words to be repeated.

The Lord's Prayer

I am grateful for this children’s book because it gives me the opportunity to teach my children the truths of Scripture at a young age and help them understand the application of that Scripture. The character FatCat makes learning even more fun as he makes an appearance on each page. FatCat is symbolic of the catechism and the book’s introduction uses simple terms to help children understand what that word means.

According to the publisher, Lexham Press, “How can anyone, no matter how young or old, grasp the message of the Bible? The church’s answer has always been the catechism: The Apostles’ Creed, the Lord’s Prayer, and the Ten Commandments.

The catechism teaches us what the Bible teaches us: our faith. The catechism is ‘fat,’ bursting at the seams with meaning and challenge. FatCat is our way of making the catechism approachable, bringing theology to readers of all ages.”

My children love cats and the idea of having to spot FatCat on each page kept them engaged as I read the book. The illustrations in the book are beautiful and rich with color making it enjoyable for adults and kids alike. My family has been blessed by The Lord’s Prayer for All God’s Children and we look forward to reading more in the FatCat series!

I received The Lord’s Prayer for All God’s Children compliments of Lexham Press in exchange for my honest review.
