The Polo Shirt Must Die

Don’t hate? Oh, no – please do!

Finding a balance between style and comfort is imperative in constructing and creating good fashion. This is a difficult balance to achieve and maintain. Attempting to upkeep good fashion is something I almost overlooked a few weeks ago. I was simply running to the store with my little sister to pick up a few things. I did not really want to put much effort into dressing myself, as I was just making a quick trip, so I settled for one of the polo shirts that I have as part of my work uniform. I thought to myself, “Well it’s okay to wear it just this once, I’m only going to be out for a little while.” Thinking that I even possessed such naivete leaves me disappointed with myself. Let me clarify that it is NEVER, EVER okay to go anywhere at all wearing the cloth disaster typically known as the polo shirt…not even if you are a model for Ralph Lauren!!! For all of you who have suffered through the restrictions placed upon you by dress codes (prep school & private school kiddies you know what I’m talking about), my heart goes out to you. There is nothing more embarrassing than having to dress yourself everyday knowing that the shirt you are wearing really only works best with mom jeans, a fanny pack or socks and sandals (for those of you who failed to pick up on the sarcasm, this would be NEVER!). Although many try to rock the preppy style (and it can be rocked) please remember when doing so, do us all a favor by relieving us from the nightmares we experience every time someone wears one of these depressing excuses for fashion, and forgo the polo.
Love,
Lolo

P.S. Tonight when I told my parents I wanted to post a blog titled : The Polo Shirt Must Die, my dad said, “Hey, I’m wearing a polo shirt!” To which I said, (and thought): “Yeeaahhh, that’s kinda my point…”
